Breaking The Stigma Around African Americans And Mental Health

Only 9-percent of the African American population reported seeking mental health treatment or counseling in a 2014 report from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. That's compared to nearly 19-percent of whites. The Northeast Ohio Black Health Coalition will tackle the issue this weekend at a conference on the state of mental health disparities in the African American Community.
