"Taste on the Lake" Brings Local Food and Fun to Edgewater Park

Edgewater Park set a new record in 2017 with more than 1.5 million visitors. This year, it could be even busier. Cleveland Metroparks officials on Monday announced a two-day event highlighting local restaurants, musicians and artists, and a new summer concert series.

Restaurants and breweries like Market Garden, Bloom Bakery, Ninja City and Fahrenheit will showcase their culinary talents for Cleveland residents and tourists at the Taste on the Lake on July 7 and 8. Cleveland Metroparks Chief Marketing Officer Kelly Manderfield says  they expect the festival to draw 4,000 to 5,000 people a day.

“Edgewater Park has definitely become a destination, so we’re hoping to get not only our local residents but perhaps get some visitors from out of town as well to really check out, in one place, all these wonderful restaurants, artists and musicians in a one-stop shop,” Manderfield said.

Local bands like The Whiskey Hollow and Madeline Finn will perform, and local artists will display their work. Manderfield hopes the emphasis on local artists and the location set Taste on the Lake apart from other events in Cleveland.

“There’s a lot of food and music festivals in Cleveland, and how this one’s differentiated is truly the art scene. It’s one of the pillars of event, so food, music and art, and all of it’s right on the lakefront,” Manderfield said. “Access to Lake Erie, beautiful views of the city skyline, so what better setting?”

Along with the two-day event, Cleveland Metroparks announced a free, four-week Sunday concert series in June, with local musicians playing in the Centennial Plaza at Edgewater Beach. Concertgoers will be able to vote for their favorite musicians, and those bands will perform in July at Taste on the Lake.

Tickets include a food and beverage sample and are now on sale for $20. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Cleveland Metroparks Trails Fund.
