The Cleveland Orchestra: 52nd Broadcast Season

The 2017-18 season will mark The Cleveland Orchestra’s 100, and in this 52nd season of broadcasts, we begin to look back at some of the ensemble’s significant concerts that have been shared with radio audiences throughout the years.  We hear Louis Lane conduct Jacqueline de Pre, George Szell lead Christoph Eschenbach in his 1969 American debut, and a 1967 concert in which Szell conducts David Oistrakh in the Brahms Violin Concerto, and then Oistrakh conducts the Orchestra in the Shostakovich Symphony No. 10.  Of course, there several concerts from the current season, as well, among them Franz Welser-Möst leading the Orchestra in Bach’s St. John Passion, Daniil Trifonov performing Mozart under the baton of Jaap von Sweden, and a concert from the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami when Nikolai Znaider performed the Nielsen Violin Concert under Welser-Möst.
